Light Painting at The Historic Deglman Farm
Time to share Matt and Nicole’s super-cool light painting at The Historic Deglman Farm. This one-of-a-kind wedding photograph really tuned out pretty awesome! With the farm tractor (which has been converted into a water fountain) and the waxing crescent moon, it’s a real eye-catcher.
Deciding what and where to light paint at this cool wedding venue was the most challenging part. We could have selected a couple of dozen places to create Matt and Nicole’s light painting. This was the spot that our newlyweds preferred, so we went with it. (It was impossible to make a bad decision on their light painting location).
Time To Catch Up
A lot more great wedding photographs happened before we did their light painting at The Historic Deglman Farm. In “Part One” of their wedding day, we shared many of the moments that lead up to their pretty wedding ceremony. We shared Matt and Nicole getting ready and their first look photos, lots of wedding candid pictures, and then tons of wedding party and family photos too!
There were too many images to share in just one blog post. So we made a “Part Two”.
“Part Two” took us from the conclusion of their ceremony all the way to their fun wedding dance. There were more fun wedding party photos, quite a few candid wedding pics of their wedding guests, toasts, cake cutting, and a whole lot more!
Deglman Farm Light Painted Photograph
Once their wedding dance was underway, Joannie and I went to set up for Matt and Nicole’s light painting. The days are already so short that we had to set up in the dark. Not a big problem, but it does make it a bit trickier setting up when you can’t see very well.
Once we were all set, I went to get our newlyweds up at their barn dance. Nicole took a few minutes to give her hair a few new curls, and we were ready to go. After a few photos, we sent the newlyweds back to their party and we got to work on the light painting part.
The sky was pretty dark in up Princeton (not much light pollution), so the starry sky looks pretty cool. The waxing crescent moon was actually in the western sky getting ready to set. With a long telephoto lens and a little Photoshop magic, I placed it back where it had risen a several hours earlier.
The Build Movie
We hope you have enjoyed the story behind Matt and Nicole’s cool light painted photograph at The Historic Deglman Farm. We’ve got a short one minute “build video” on our YouTube Channel. The link is below. It shows the photographs that we used to create this amazing image and the painting part done in post-production afterward.
As always, thank you for reading our blog post and have a great one! – M&J
