Wes and Lindsey Take Two
After creating their first batch of engagement portraits at Interstate State Park back in January, I got together for “Wes and Lindsey Take Two” a couple of weeks ago. This time, instead of ice everywhere, we had nice warm Minnesota summer! It was indeed perfect outside on this Friday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, MN.
I brought Lightning McQueen along to help me make the images look great and while I didn’t have to use Lightning for all of the shots, where I need light, he nailed it!
St. Anthony Main
We met at St. Anthony Main and created some pretty images right across the street from the movie theater. From there we walked north along the Mississippi River stopping along the way at several other great spots for engagement pics. I really like the images I captured of Lindsey and Wes on the Merriam Street Bridge leading to Nicollet Island. Very cute!
Afterward, I took Wes and Lindsey across the street to one of my other favorite spots at Saint Anthony Main that has the best brick walls for photographs of any kind. I just love those textures as backdrops and props for portraiture.
I Like You
The next stop was just a few blocks away at the “I Like You Wall”. This was a “quick stop” and we hit it just right as the sun went behind a cloud right when we arrived (much softer light) and popped back out as we were leaving. Sometimes you just get lucky!
After a quick stop for a wardrobe change at their house, just a few blocks away, we walked a couple more blocks to one of their favorite hangouts, The Dangerous Man Taproom. I’m now kind of fond of the place too!
It was here that we made a couple of cute images of Wes and Lindsey toasting a couple of cold ones. And then we decided to drink them too (I got my own, thanks to Wes)! We also met up with a friend of theirs, Andy, and with Wes’ brother, Rayme.
We sat there for a little while and enjoyed the brews and the company. Then we headed outside to get a few more images with the taproom as the backdrop. Rayme also had his Harley Davidson motorcycle there, so we used it as a prop as well. Since Wes and Lindsey have taken it on road trips before, why not?
The Movie
I hope you’ve enjoyed the story behind “Wes and Lindsey Take Two”. Just like I did back in January, I’ve got a cute highlight music video with some of my favorite images from their warm summer session. These guys are getting married in October up at Grandview Lodge in Nisswa, MN, so there certainly will be a lot more to come!
Thank you for reading our post and have a great one! – M&J
