Little Log House Pioneer Village Engagement
Here are some our favorite images from Darrick and April’s Little Log House Pioneer Village engagement session last Tuesday evening This was my first time at this very unique venue and I must say that I’m already looking forward to creating their wedding photographs there next August. There are amazing photo spots pretty much everywhere you look at the Little Log House Pioneer Village!
The Winds Of September
When I arrived, I drove through the expansive complex to get an idea of the photo possibilities. Then I parked and set up Lightning McQueen to assist me in the lighting department. It turns out that I didn’t have to use Lightning as much as I anticipated because clouds moved in shortly after we started and the natural light was really nice much of the time.
It turns out that the biggest challenge would not be the light, it would be the wind! Let’s just say that it was a wee-bit on the breezy side. More than a few times we had to wait for the wind gusts to settle down so that April’s hair wasn’t going sideways. But the good thing about the wind was that there were no mosquitoes to deal with!
You Have To See It To Believe It
After doing a little research about the Little Log House Pioneer Village, I knew that Darrick and Aprils’ engagement portraits would be a lot of fun to create. And even with all that wind, I wasn’t disappointed!
There are almost endless places to create engagement (and wedding) photos at Pioneer Village. There’s something like 40 old restored builds, dozens of vintage cars and trucks, trains, firetrucks, windmills, and much more!
And, for those of you that are old enough to remember, they even have the original Porky’s Drive-In that used to be on University Avenue in St. Paul, MN!
Light Painting Heaven
As far as creating light painted photography is concerned, I’m pretty sure that I could create one totally different light painted photograph there a day and not run out of cool items for a year or more! The place is light painting heaven!
And yes, we did create a one-of-a-kind light painted engagement portrait for Darrick and April. That awesome image will be ready in a few more days. We certainly will be sharing it with you once it’s ready. The spot we chose was out of the wind (sort of) at the Old Country Grist Mill right there on the property.
The set-up shot for their one-of-a-kind light painted engagement photograph is shown below with Lightning McQueen as the model.
