St. Victoria Catholic Church
We actually began Kevin & Megan’s beautiful wedding day at St. Victoria Catholic Church in nearby Victoria, MN. It was there that they were married in the old historic chapel with close family and friends in attendance.
It was a morning wedding, so we held their first looks (Megan’s dad & Kevin’s) just moments before they were getting married. After their receiving line, we had a mini portrait session at the altar for immediate family and a few images of the wedding party as well.
One of the highlights of the morning was Megan and her dad walking down the aisle together. While it’s always a highlight of any wedding, this was even more special in that Megan’s dad has recently begun walking again after a terrible car accident last fall. A very special moment indeed!

We departed St. Victoria’s and went just down the road to the beautiful Minnesota Landscape Arboretum for the rest of the day.

A Picture Perfect Wedding Day
Saturday was a perfect Minnesota spring day! Sunny skies, light breeze and nice warm temperatures without any humidity. As a wedding photographer, all I would have asked for was some clouds, but there’s plenty of shaded locations to create their Minnesota Landscape Arboretum wedding photographs.
Because of the size of the arboretum, we employed our brand new lighting contraption that I’ve just created from a golf pull cart. I’m going to call it “Lightning McQueen” after one of my Pixar friends. It can carry a bunch of wedding photography equipment and also serves as a strong light stand to boot! With the very light breezes on Saturday, I was even able to use a 36″ softbox on it for even better quality lighting!

Above we have an image of “Lightning McQueen” in action and below is the image created with it and our Tamron SP 150-600MM F/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens. I was about 300 feet away from them! Kevin & Megan were in pretty heavy shade, yet the lighting on them is wonderful, directional and soft. Thanks “Lightning McQueen!”

Infrared Wedding Photos
Now that we have leaves back on the trees, we can break out our Canon 5D Color Infrared Camera once again! One more reason to love summertime in Minnesota!
We’ll conclude with a pretty pink color infrared wedding photo of the “King & Queen” taken just moments before their fun wedding reception started.
