Yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity to create Stillwater engagement portraits for Noah & Anna!
What a great day weather-wise! Nice temps, low humidity and fairly light wind made for a perfect spring day in Minnesota. It was a bit sunny, but by the end of their engagement session, it was a totally blue sky. This was a vast improvement from our original date last week when it poured most of the day!
Noah & Anna will be getting married in late August at the beautiful Rush Creek Golf Course in Maple Grove. We’re very excited to be their wedding photographers! But I personally am not too excited for their wedding to get here very quickly. Late August means the end of summer. And since summer’s not even really here yet, I can wait a while. 🙂
As you can see, Noah & Anna are a really cute couple, I enjoyed our walk around downtown Stillwater together on this beautiful Thursday afternoon. We got to talk about the wedding and get to know each other better on a nice relaxing walk on a great day in a cute town.
As I mentioned earlier, the sun was trying to make a comeback from all of the cloud cover, so at times we had to wait for the clouds to help us out lighting wise. While we waited, we just enjoyed the day together.
Lightning McQueen
I brought our new custom built golf cart photo light stand, “Lightning McQueen” along to carry extra gear and to light the scene when called on. “Lightning McQueen” did exactly what I hoped for when I was building it, helping me schlep a bunch of heavy gear all over the place for Noah & Anna’s Stillwater engagement portraits. It was especially nice going uphill in not-so-flat Stillwater!
While not perfect (stairs are an issue), the benefits far outweigh that negatives. Getting the good light on my subjects and NOT getting a hernia is really my top priorities, not only for Stillwater engagement portraits but for weddings and any type of location portrait. I’m even wondering if I should build a second one for outdoor weddings! I probably would have to name that one “Mater”! 🙂
With the sun trying to come out at the end of their session, I decided to create a couple of infrared photographs with our Canon 5D Color Infrared Camera too! It’s fun to see what that camera can come up with when the sun wants to play along.
I hope you’ve enjoyed a few of my favorite images from Noah & Anna’s Stillwater engagement portraits, I’ve created a cute highlight music video for them to enjoy and I think you’ll like it too! Have a great weekend!
