Kevin and Carolina’s U of M Engagement Portraits
Last Thursday evening, I had the pleasure of creating Kevin and Carolina’s U of M engagement portraits. We met up at Coffman Memorial Union and then spent a couple of hours walking the campus on a glorious June evening in Minnesota!
I had “Lightning McQueen” all loaded and ready to go. Just for fun, I’ll be sharing some behind-the-scenes photos taken with my iPhone of our custom built lighting cart in action. It should give you a pretty good idea of just how handy having lighting on wheels is in making nicely lit portraits.
The Plaza
Many of Kevin and Carolina’s U of M engagement photos were created in and around the plaza between Coffman and Northrup Auditorium. With everything so lush and green, it really is a beautiful area for their University of Minnesota engagement pictures. We took full advantage of it, both at the start and on our way back to our cars, including a photo stop at Carolina’s “tree” where she did a lot of studying while at the U.
Some of our other photo spots were in front of Smith, Pillsbury, Folwell, and Murphy Halls. Each one of those buildings offered a wide variety of backdrops for great engagement photos. I especially love Pillsbury Hall! I hope to light paint at that awesome building sometime in the future!
More Coming Soon!
Kevin and Carolina met us at John and Jennie’s Urban Growler Brewing Company wedding last June. They will be getting married on July 27th at the Centennial Lakes Amphitheater in Edina, MN. Joannie and I are very excited to be their wedding photographers and to spend their wedding day with them next month!
In the meantime, here’s a cute highlight music video for you to enjoy while we all wait for these two to get married in just a few more weeks. Thank you for reading our post and we hope you have a great one! – M&J
