We would like to share some of the cute Mears Park engagement portraits from Andrew & Kate’s session last Thursday in downtown St. Paul, MN.
The three of us had a really nice time together on a spectacular, early fall evening. They each brought two different outfits, so we spent time creating their Mears Park engagement portraits with both outfits and just walked around the area looking for nice backgrounds to mix it up a little.
I cannot believe how perfect the weather was! Boy, do I wish you could just bottle that kind of day and bring it back out in February when it’s freezing outside!
I used a couple of small strobes to assist me in the lighting department, mostly to highlight their hair. But for the most part, I used natural light for many of their engagement photos at Mears Park.
We didn’t have to go more than a block away from Mears Park. The area is just full of great locations and backgrounds for engagement portraits. The alley we found is one of the coolest locations I’ve run across in a long time.
We spent a fair amount of time there while I tried different lighting combinations. I love the final look of these images, I enjoy backlighting my photographs and it really accentuates the look of a location like an alley.
I’ve created little highlight music video with many of Kate & Andrew’s awesome Mears Park engagement portraits. I think you’re going to love it!
Andrew & Kate will be getting married next February and we’re looking forward to having a great time with them on their wedding day! –M&J
