1958 C1 Corvette Resto-mod Light Painting
Recently, while doing some major updating to our sister Light Painting Website, MichaelAndersonLightPainting.com, I discovered that I hadn’t written a story about this particular 1958 C1 Corvette resto-mod light painting. So, now is the time to fix that!
Back at the time, I did write a blog post about a different version of this beautiful car. It was a combined light painting showcasing the car, as viewed from the back, and a cute pet portrait of the car’s namesake, an adorable Sheltie name “Rebel”. That one-of-a-kind light painted photograph turned out incredibly cool! Please check out the whole story at this link: “What do you get when you light paint a 1958 C1 Corvette and a Sheltie?”
Here’s “Rebel”, posing for the other light painting that showcases the back of this beautiful 58 Corvette.
Barrett-Jackson
I’ve had the pleasure of light painted this beautiful automobile on several occasions. The first time, was when Jean graciously allowed Joannie and me to light paint “Rebel 58”, and her other Corvette, “Chaos 2”, a stunning 1957, several weeks earlier. As you’ll read about in the story about that light painting, I discovered this stunning resto-mod Corvette that winter at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. During the auction, Jean was fortunate enough to end up owning the car! Pretty cool!
Jean’s Love of Shelties
A Sheltie is a breed of herding dog that originated in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. This hard-working small dog is intelligent, vocal, excitable, and willing to please. They are incredibly loyal to their owners to the point where they are often referred to as “shadows” due to their attachment to family. This breed was formally recognized by The Kennel Club (UK) in 1909.
Jean enjoys naming her Corvettes using the names of her Shelties. “Rebel 58”, is the namesake of “Rebel”. Below, is Rebel’s light painted portrait created in the first light painting we created that night.
Doing A “Flip”
After completing the beautiful light painting of Rebel with Rebel 58, I came up with an idea. What if we didn’t move the tripod, and simply turned the car around and light paint it from the front? If this worked, I would not have to relight paint the house and its surroundings, just the car, and the area right around it! It would be a huge time-saving way to create another unique artwork for Jean, and I’d have something new that I could offer to future clients as well. Well, not only did it work, but as you can see, it worked flawlessly!

I hope you’ve enjoyed the pretty images and the backstory about this beautiful light painting of Jean’s 1958 C1 Corvette Resto-mod. We loved creating these images for Jean, and I once again learned some new techniques to add to my light painting tool arsenal.
As always, I’ve got a short “build” video with the images I used to create this wonderful pet/car/home light painting. Please enjoy the short video on our YouTube Channel, and thank you for reading our post. – M&J
