Andrew & Sarah’s Grace Lutheran Church wedding and The Links at Northfork wedding reception!
This beautiful Saturday started off with a stop at Andrew & Sarah’s home in Ramsey where the girls were getting ready. Joannie would hang out with the girls while I drove a couple of miles away to where the boys were getting ready.
Before I departed, I spent a little time “up in a tree.” Well, I actually wasn’t in the tree (it was close though), the girl’s wedding dresses were! Kind of a cute way to show them off, along with everyone’s cowgirl boots too!
Once everyone was dressed and ready it was off to the church to get Andrew & Sarah married!
Family Wedding Photos
After their wedding ceremony, we took all of the family photos in a pretty little spot in the shade right in front of Grace Lutheran Church. Once the family photos were completed, it was off to downtown Anoka by the Rum River to a very nice spot for the wedding party photos.
As you’ll see in their highlight music video, we took lots of fun wedding images at this great location in the shade on this very warm Saturday.
Anoka Wedding Photography
We finished up in Anoka with a little stop right in the middle of downtown for some urban wedding photos in front of this cool brick wall.
Joannie & I left the wedding party at Billy’s Bar & Grill in Anoka (I think milk & cookies were being served there) and we set off to The Links at Northfork wedding reception to get set up for their arrival there a short time later.
After a nice dinner, it was time for some dancing! Andrew & Sarah started their dance out in a different way than you might normally see at most weddings, Andrew danced the first dance with his mom and a short time later Sarah and her mom joined in.
Family Is Everything
Sarah and her sister Laura lost their father many years ago and so all of her family support team got to share the next dance with her one at a time in a “family dance.” Very sweet.
Andrew & Sarah’s first dance followed and then everyone joined in!
After dinner and just before their dance began, we took Andrew & Sarah outside to the cool bridge that leads from the clubhouse to the first tee box over the busy road below. It was here that we took our Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD lens out for a spin. This super telephoto was just the ticket to bring our newlyweds up close from pretty far away without having to “shoot up” at them from below.
I would estimate the distance from the camera to the “King & Queen” to be about 80 yards! The images above & below are not cropped! Amazing piece of glass that Tamron.
As far as the image above goes. It’s a composite image, two images put together to make one cooler version.
While we were out shooting the first image on the bridge at The Links at Northfork wedding reception, we had to go quickly as they were waiting for us to get the dance started inside.
Stunning Sunset Wedding Photos
Well, a sunset can’t be redone after it goes down, so we worked quickly enough to get Andrew and Sarah back inside, but the sun wasn’t really close to being down. The other problem was that the clouds you see here weren’t even around yet.
So after the dance got going I went back outside to check out the sky and captured the pretty cloud formation that had come into view just after the sun had set. I took the two images and performed some magic in Photoshop CC to create one even prettier one.
You can see both versions on our “Wedding Photography Before and After” gallery page and both images are really pretty.
I call it creative license. Hey, I’m the artist! Plus, they didn’t have to stop dancing that way.
Andrew & Sarah, Joannie and I want to thank you for asking us to spend your wedding day with you two. I hope you’ve enjoyed this little wedding day photo teaser and the highlight music video too. We look forward to showing you all of your wedding photographs real soon!
