Senior Portraits in Downtown Minneapolis
Time to share some images from another great senior photo session! This time, I’ve got Noah’s senior portraits in downtown Minneapolis! Noah is a 2024 senior at Wayzata High School.
There’s some great history here too. Joannie and I had the honor of photographing his parents’ wedding, Blake and Christine, back in October of 2000! I have also photographed Noah and his older brother, Gabriel, several times over the years as well. As a matter of fact, I also photographed Gabe’s senior portraits (a 2022 grad) just a couple of years ago!
Lightning McQueen
While it was a great day, weather-wise, it was very challenging from a lighting standpoint. Bright and mostly sunny, thankfully there were some clouds to soften the light at times. As usual, I took my trusty self-build lighting cart, Lightning McQueen, with me.
The great thing about it being sunny is that the fall leaves look amazing when backlighted. The difficult thing is to get good light on the subject (Noah) to balance it out between the two. Well, with Lightning McQueen, I can wheel my powerful strobe light setup, with a softbox, to most places that I want to photograph. It’s the difference between taking a simple snapshot and making a great portrait!
Senior Photos in Downtown Minneapolis
This is certainly not the first time that I’ve created senior pics in downtown Minneapolis. I’ve lost track of the number of times that I’ve done so.
I photographed Noah on the St. Anthony Main side of the Mississippi River. While there are many great locations on the other side of the Mississippi, I think that the St. Anthony Main side is better in the fall because there are way more trees. Also, you can get the skyline of Minneapolis in the background easily from that side of the river.
Noah – The Class of 2024 at Wayzata High School
As I love to do when I post a story about one of my high school senior photo sessions, I’ve created a music video with some of my favorite images from Noah’s session. Please enjoy it at the link below. Thank you for taking time out of your day to read our post! – M&J
