Fall Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club Wedding
Last Saturday, Joannie and I had the honor of photographing another very pretty wedding. This is the story of Eric and Amanda’s Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club wedding.
This was our first Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club wedding. We had photographed a wedding reception there many years ago, but that was in their old building before it was destroyed in a fire back in 2013.
Rain, Rain, Go Away!
We had the same situation for Eric and Amanda that we faced the week before for Steve and Sarah’s wedding at the Minnesota Zoo. The rain was in the forecast the whole week before the wedding. Surprisingly, the weatherman got it right once again too.
The biggest difference on this Saturday was that it didn’t stop their outdoor wedding ceremony from happening. Instead, it rained all morning, stopped for several hours, and then rained again for just a little while once it got dark. All in all, the weather was pretty decent for outdoor wedding photography. It did get very breezy and pretty dark at ceremony time, but at least it was dry!
When Joannie and I arrived, we set out to find a nice place to photograph Amanda’s wedding dress before she put it on for the day. We found a dry, pretty spot in the woods that had nice fall colors all around.
Once back inside, we took some of the detail images with her shoes and jewelry. Joannie then stayed behind with the girls, and I left to hang out with Eric and the boys at the nearby Hunting Lodge.
Boys Will Be Boys
The story goes, that the girls were out of control and the boys were very, very sweet and mellow. Oh yeah right! The boys were definitely being boys, and most of their antics will not be shared. “What happens in the Hunting Lodge, stays in the Hunting Lodge.”
Once everyone was dressed and ready to go, Amanda had her first look with her dad. Eric’s first look followed, down by the pretty pond. After Eric and Amanda’s first look, it was wedding portrait time.
Joannie and I captured tons of great wedding candid photos and wedding party photos. We also captured many great images of both families and lots of really pretty fall color wedding photos.
But some of my favorite images of the day have to be the ones we captured of Eric and Amanda with their two adorable kids. Eight-year-old Keaton, and eighteen-month-old Sophie. Little Sophie was wearing one of the cutest flower girl dresses we’ve ever seen! As you can clearly see, these are two super cute kids!
Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club Wedding Ceremony
It was almost time for their ceremony and the weather was actually cooperating. So it was decided that their wedding ceremony would be held outside on this beautiful property.
Reverend Kathleen Brusco presided over what was a very sweet ceremony. Other than the fact that the wind was kind of strong and the sky turned dark and threatening, it really was a perfect wedding ceremony!
Keaton was Eric’s best man, and he handed them their wedding rings when the time came. Being eight years old, and one of Eric’s groomsmen, Keaton did what boys like to do when they can, have a little fun. Little did Keaton know that “Uncle Mike” was toting his Tamron SP 150-600MM F/5-6.3 Di VC USD big-boy lens along and I caught him in the act of doing both his job and having a little fun at the end of the ceremony too.
Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club Wedding Reception
Eric and Amanda’s wedding reception was a “full house”! At most weddings, there’s usually some people that can’t make it at the last minute for one reason or another. Not today! Every seat in the house was taken. A great testament as to how loved these two are!
During the social hour, Eric gathered all of his co-workers at Airic’s Heating for an unusual group wedding portrait. We took it outside by the massive heating and air conditioning unit that their company installed at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club. Just when I think I’ve photographed everything at a wedding.
After a really wonderful dinner, several speeches, toasts, and some roasts were up next. As you might have guessed by now, Eric (and Amanda to a very slightly, lesser extent) is not really very shy. He’s a funny guy who knows how to have fun, and he’s not afraid to do so.
Being one of the last of his friends to get married wasn’t a really good idea on his part. Let’s just say that there was some “payback” throughout the day and evening from many of his friends for some of the shenanigans that he’s pulled at their weddings in the past. It was pretty funny stuff!
Fall Colors Light Painting Wedding Photography
A full dance floor closed out the celebration at this fun and pretty Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club wedding. But Joannie and I were not done yet.
Our regular coverage was now complete, and it was time to create another light painted wedding photograph! The rain had stopped, and so we went to work on another creation.
Below, is a very short video that shows how Joannie & I created their Horse and Hunt Club Wedding Photography Light Painting.
To Eric and Amanda, Joannie and I are so happy for you guys! We really enjoyed spending your wedding day with you and we know you’re going to love all of your wedding images. Thank you for asking us to create them for you! – M&J
