Light Painting a Cessna Citation X+ (and a whole lot more)!
Joannie and I had the unique opportunity to create a really beautiful light painting of a Cessna Citation X+ at Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. But that wasn’t all, in the same photograph, we also light painted a 2020 G63 Mercedes Benz, and a 2020 Mercedes Benz GTR as well!
Due to a rainy weather forecast, this cool light painting project was created inside a brand-new hanger at Flying Cloud Airport. It actually did rain, so it turned out to be a good call.
Light Painting the “Race Car”
As we lined up these three amazing modes of transportation for the light painting, the 2020 Mercedes GTR ended up in the front due to it having the lowest profile of the three. There’s a chance that it might be the fastest of the three as well. Although the pilot of the Cessna Citation X+ told me that the Citation is capable of going 700 miles per hour, so it would probably be a close race!
The GTR, which they simply call “Race Car”, is certainly one of the hottest cars I’ve ever seen (and I was just at Barrett-Jackson in January)! She has stunning lines along with amazing trim features. I’ve already suggested it as a Father’s Day gift idea to our girls. I’ve got my fingers crossed, but I’m not holding my breath.
Light Painting the “Wagon”
Next in line, the 2020 G63 Mercedes, is a unique vehicle in its own right. When I first saw it from a distance, I wasn’t so sure about the look. But after getting a chance to see her up close, I must say that I’m really impressed. There’s something about how it’s decked out that made her really special to light paint. It didn’t take very long for the G63 to grow on me.
Nicknamed “Wagon”, and at 577 horsepower, and 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, she’s a really fast “Wagon” as well!
Light Painting the Cessna Citation X+
The whole project was originally going to be the Cessna Citation X+ all by itself. But a few days prior, they asked me if it would be ok could add the cars to the shot. Since this was already going to be an amazing light painting project, I thought why not make it even better!
I’m really very pleased with how amazing this project turned out. It was really fun to have Joannie along to do a non-wedding light painting with me. This was her first vehicle light painting project, and I’d say we certainly started her off on the right foot!
I’ve put together a very short video on our YouTube Channel that shows some of the magic, just one image at a time. As always, thank you for reading our post and have a great one! – M&J
