Jeff and Lucía’s Elm Creek Park Reserve Engagement Photos
On Tuesday, I had the pleasure of creating Jeff and Lucía’s Elm Creek Park Reserve engagement photos. It was a beautiful, sunny, spring evening in Minnesota and it was great to be creating portraits outdoors once again!
Having been an Elm Creek Park Reserve wedding photographer on a few occasions, I’m getting pretty familiar with the big park. In fact, Joannie and I will be photographing a wedding there in just two weeks!
Despite the sunny conditions, Jeff and Lucía’s Elm Creek Park Reserve engagement portraits turned out quite pretty. Maybe it’s because none of us have seen green grass and leaves on the trees in what seems like a year!
It’s always difficult creating any type of portraits when there are no clouds in the sky. But after the winter we just went through, I was totally up to the challenge! That, and I had Lightning McQueen with me to help combat the sun.
To make the best of the tough lighting, most of their Elm Creek Park Reserve engagement photographs would be created in the shade. Thankfully, leaves are on most of the trees now, so finding decent shade was easier than it was even just a week ago.
Live Music at the Elm Creek Park Reserve
Jeff loves to play his guitar for Lucía (and he’s pretty good at it too) so he brought it along to use as a prop. It was the first time that I can recall having live music during an engagement session. It was kind of nice. I might have to bring Jeff along with me on portrait assignments from now on!
My favorite Elm Creek Park Reserve engagement pictures were taken at the end of the session. The sun was getting pretty low in the sky and the leaves were glowing. I love it when trees are backlit, it just looks so pretty! So I was on the lookout for a location with the setting sun behind Jeff and Lucía. We found it on the bike and walking trail as we were heading back out of the park. So pretty!
Jeff and Lucía will be getting married in mid-June, so it won’t be long and we’ll be sharing their wedding photos with you too!
