2023 C8 Corvette Stingray

2023 C8 Corvette Stingray

Here’s another of the fantastic light painting projects from my trip to Missouri a few weeks ago. This time, it’s a beautiful Torch Red 2023 C8 Corvette Stingray complete with the Z51 package. This car is so hot!

I met the car’s owner, Lee, during the Lake of the Ozarks Corvette Club Car Show and he really loved what he saw and he reserved a light painting session for that very night! He and his two-week-old 2023 C8 Corvette Stingray were going back home to Arkansas the next morning, so it was way more convenient (for both of us) to create it that very night. The big question was where?

Light Painting a C8 Corvette at Seven Springs Winery

So, the Corvette show was still going but Lee took off to look for a location to light paint his beautiful car. I basically told him that we needed a location without street lights, we had to have permission to be there, and we all had to be safe while doing so.

Lee sent me a few texts of spots that he found and they all looked like they might work. Then, he sent me pics from one that was pretty unique. He was at Seven Springs Winery with his wife and another couple, and it looked like a beautiful location!

My friend Brian was in my light painting booth with me at that time and so I asked him what he thought of the spot since he’s a local. He told me that it would be a great spot if we could use it. So I texted Lee to see if they would indeed let us use it. A little while later he told me that we got the go-ahead to be there that night after hours.

Time to Get a Move On!

Brian was a great help at the car show. He helped me set up and then pack up once it concluded. He even manned my booth a few times so that I could walk around and check out the Corvettes. Well, he was the reason I was there in the first place after all! Please check out the story behind that statement, and the first of two beautiful light paintings created at his home, at this link about light painting his 2017 Corvette Grand Sport.

After we got my booth all packed up into my Honda Odyssey, we drove to his home so that I could unload some of my booth contents. I needed to make some room to load up my camera gear for Lee’s light painting which was in a just couple of hours. I made a quick change of clothes and we, now including Brian’s sweet wife Barb, headed to the winery to have a little dinner and check out the spot.

We arrived just in time to order some food before the kitchen closed up. The crew working at Seven Springs Winery was awesome! They took great care of us, even showing us how to turn on and off the lights outside in their beautiful gardens.

After dinner, it was time to have some light painting fun! All seven of us went into action moving tables and chairs so that we could drive the Corvette, and my vehicle full of camera and lighting gear, into position for the project. Lee got to work cleaning up his beautiful car, and I started setting up all of my goodies.

After a few test shots and moving the camera around a little, we found the look and angle that Lee wanted that showed off the 2023 C8 Corvette Stingray and the car’s cool interior too! It was still too light out to begin light painting the car, so I got to work, using strobe lights, on the pretty landscaping at Seven Springs Winery.

I’m pretty sure that the wonderful landscaping was the reason that Lee wanted to use this location, (the fact that they sold wine might have played into it a little also). The area is pretty large with tons of details, a bridge, a waterfall, walls, a fountain, and lots of plants and trees. It took a fair amount of time to light paint all of it.

By the time I finished the landscape light painting portion, it was dark enough to get the work on the C8 Corvette. The first long exposure pass on the Corvette told me this was going to be amazing! And, as you can see below, the finished artwork really turned out fantastic!

This is one hot car (the location isn’t too bad either)!

2023 C8 Corvette Stingray – The Movie

As always, here’s a short video with some of the images that went into the light painting of Lee’s 2023 C8 Corvette Stingray. We took over 400 images that night and I used more than 100 of them to create the completed one-of-a-kind light painted artwork. I hope you’ve enjoyed our blog post and thank you for taking time out of your day to read about it. – M&J
