The night after creating not one, but two cool light paintings for my friend Erick, I was back at it, light painting his three Ford Shelbys! We created this amazing light painting less than 100 yards from where we were the night before, on the tarmac at RGV Wing Commerorative Airport (PIL) near Brownsville, Texas.

When I was informed that there was going to be a truck in the light painting with his two Ford Shelby Mustangs, I thought to myself, “Cool! I wonder what kind of truck it is?”

You can imagine my surprise when I found out that it was a Ford Shelby Truck! I had no idea that Shelby did Trucks! (In my defense, I know how to make vehicles look really cool, but that certainly doesn’t make me “a car guy”! – But, I’m working on it!)

A Quick Recap of the Previous Night

The previous evening, we light-painted Cessna 182 N225EA for Erick. The cool hangar and the “retired” Control Tower were the backdrop for that project. You can check out that amazing image and its story by clicking on this link.

Now, let’s talk about these three Ford Shelbys. From left to right, we have:

Here’s the 2022 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang’s close-up. She looks (and sounds) amazing!

The paint scheme on this 2022 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang is Atlas Blue Metallic, with Oxford White stripes. This pretty car does 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 180 mph! A list of many of its features is listed below:

Engine & Performance

Engine: A 5.2-liter supercharged cross-plane crank V8.
Horsepower: 760 hp @ 7300 RPM.
Torque: 625 lb-ft @ 5000 RPM.
Transmission: A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Brakes: Brembo front and rear brakes with red-painted calipers.

Light Painting a 2022 Ford Shelby F150 Off-Road Series

The Ford Shelby F150 is Oxford White, with Atlas Blue Metallic stripes. It has 775 horsepower, so I’m guessing that means it can “fly” about as fast as Erick’s Cessna 182 (maybe faster)?

Here’s a list of some of the truck’s special features:

Engine and Performance

Engine: A 5.0L Ford Coyote V8 with a Whipple 3L supercharger.
Horsepower: Approximately 775 hp.
Transmission: 10-speed automatic.
Intake: Performance-oriented, including a carbon fiber air intake tube, open-air performance intake, and a functional ram-air hood.
Exhaust: Shelby-tuned Borla performance exhaust with black ceramic dual tips.
Cooling: Performance aluminum heat exchanger, billet throttle body, and front fender vents for engine cooling.

Here’s the close-up of the 2024 Ford Shelby Super Snake Mustang. What a sweet ride!

Erick’s other Shelby Mustang is the reverse in colors from the first, Oxford White, with Atlas Blue Metallic stripes, just like the truck. One of the things that caught my attention on this beauty was the bronze wheels. They look amazing!

Many of the Shelby-specific performance upgrades and enhancements are listed below:

Engine and Performance

Engine: A Gen 4 Ford Coyote 5.0L engine with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger, pushing output to over 830 horsepower.
Cooling: Featuring a new Shelby extreme cooling system, including a new radiator and heat exchanger, to maintain optimal performance.
Exhaust: A full Shelby Borla exhaust system for improved airflow and a distinct sound.
Wheels & Brakes: Lightweight, forged magnesium alloy wheels and equipped with Brembo brakes and Willwood rotors.
Suspension: A fully reworked suspension tuned by Shelby American for enhanced handling.

Interior and Exterior Styling

Widebody: Features custom wide carbon fiber fenders and wider front and side bumpers to accommodate larger tires and improve aerodynamics.
