Katie’s Senior Portraits on Lake Superior Created During Our 21st Annual “North Shore Weekend!”
It’s more than three weeks ago already, but our 21st annual North Shore Weekend was a huge success and a lot of fun too! We started out the weekend with Steve & Kaitlin’s wet & beautiful wedding at Superior Shores in Two Harbors, MN all day that Saturday.
On Sunday, we created Katie’s senior portraits on Lake Superior as well as her whole family’s portraits at Split Rock Lighthouse. Then, simultaneously, we photographed Rick & Becca’s fun engagement portraits as we traveled the beautiful Lake Superior shoreline together.
We’ve had the pleasure of photographing Katie on many occasions throughout her lifetime and we also photographed her parents’ wedding, Jason & Sharon, back in 1990!
The weather on Sunday was as close to perfect as you can get, with light breezes and puffy clouds in the sky to soften the sunlight. There was even an occasional large wave crashing on the Lake Superior shoreline to make it even prettier! This was nothing like last years strong winds that could have messed up the hair on a bald guy!
The “dueling” portrait sessions began at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park with Katie’s family portraits going first. Ricky & Becca joined us a short time later just as we began to do Katie’s senior portraits on Lake Superior.
After our portrait time at Split Rock Lighthouse, we hit the road with a stop at a secret location and then another stop at Gooseberry Falls State Park where the water was coming over the falls at a pretty good clip considering it was August. I’m sure that Steve and Kaitlin’s wet Saturday had something to do with that!
We took turns with Katie and then Rick & Becca at all of our stops along the way.
We concluded both sessions in the historic town of Two Harbors, Minnesota. Afterwards, we all had dinner together at a nice little restaurant in town. Well, as you can see, Katie’s senior photos on Lake Superior were a lot of fun. We’ll be sharing Rick & Becca’s Lake Superior engagement portraits and much more with you soon as well. – M&J
