Newborn Portraits of Mackenna
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of creating the adorable newborn portraits of Mackenna at her home. As you can see, Mackenna is just a cute little doll!
Joannie & I had the pleasure of photographing mommy & daddy’s wedding in December of 2015 at The Wilds Golf Club in Prior Lake, MN. We also created their engagement portraits on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Mackenna actually got her name from someone that mom & dad met on that very trip up north!
To make a long story short, we combined James and Alli’s engagement portraits with a high school senior portrait session to help make the most of our timing and locations on our North Shore Weekend. That high school senior’s name is McKenna. James & Ali thought, and rightfully so, that McKenna was just the sweetest thing ever, so when it came to naming their firstborn daughter, Mackenna was their choice.
A Little History Lesson
A little more history here. Joannie & I photographed were the wedding photographers for Dave & Julie’s wedding, McKenna’s parents, back in 1991. We have also photographed both McKenna and her brother Kyle’s kid’s portraits and their family’s portraits every year since they were born, so we totally agree with their assessment of McKenna and her family! You could not find nicer people anywhere, they are an awesome family!
Newborn Photos On Location
I made the trip to Mackenna’s home because Alli had to have a C-section to get this little lady into the world. So travel for mom wasn’t part of the plan for a little while. Well, from my experience, the newer the baby, the easier it is to get them to fall asleep so you can pose them cuter. So rather than wait a couple weeks, and with Easter portraits with our bunnies in the studio starting this upcoming week, I offered to go to their house to create them. Besides, it’s kind of nice to get out of the studio once in a while.
Mackenna must have been very excited to meet me, because she really didn’t want to sleep while I was there! That’s like six newborn portrait sessions in a row that the baby has stayed awake for most of the session! Mom and dad told me that it was the longest she’s stayed awake since her arrival! Go figure.
Well, when you’re super cute, it really doesn’t matter at all. Here’s a short & sweet music video I’ve put together so you can meet this little lady and her proud mom & dad. Enjoy and have a great weekend! – M&J
