Pretty Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard engagement portraits of Nolan and Amanda.
We talked about creating Nolan and Amanda’s engagement pictures at Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard when we first met to discuss their wedding plans. The Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard is located in Jordan, Minnesota and is owned by some of Nolan’s relatives. So it had a personal connection as well as being a unique and fun spot for their engagement portraits.
The whole idea was to do the engagement shoot when the apple trees were blossoming. That can vary by as much as a month depending on the Spring we’re having here in Minnesota. So there was some planning and finger crossing involved. We pretty much nailed it as many sections of the orchard were in full bloom. Nice!
Perfect Light, Just A Bit Wet
The weather was close to perfect lighting wise, overcast with temperatures in the 60’s with a chance of rain. It turned out to be a pretty good chance of rain as it started raining about 15 minutes after we started shooting! Oh, well. We didn’t let it “rain on our parade,” but we did have to stop for a while when it started to come down a bit on the hard side.
We took refuge in one of the main buildings and visited with one of Nolan’s relatives (I wish I could remember his name). He gave us a little tour to show us some of the renovations they’re doing before the season gets underway.
In addition to apple picking and everything else apple related, Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard does wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions too. And they do a lot of them! The new red barn should be pretty cool for weddings.
During our “rain delay,” we sampled some tasty sparkling apple wine while we waited for the rain to subside.
It finally let up enough to get back outside, so we got back to work, this time toting an umbrella. We pretty much needed the umbrella for the rest of their engagement photos.
