Light Painting a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona
A few weeks ago, I made a three-project light painting trip to the Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin areas. One of the projects that I had the privilege of light painting was a 1970 Dodge Charger 500 that’s been converted into a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona Tribute Car.

Here’s the behind-the-scenes camera setup. The iPad Pro has the actual starting image taken with our Canon R5.
The owner of this fine automobile is none other than Mike Busche. Mike is one of the co-owners of Motorhead Madness Car Show, which is held each spring in Duluth, Minnesota. I’ve been exhibiting our Light Painting Photography there for many years now. They run a great car show!
When I saw Mike’s car on display at the show this spring, I just had to light paint it! It brought back happy memories of a stunning green 1969 Dodge Daytona that I had the chance to light paint a few years ago. If you’d like to check out that cool project, please click on this link.
At Motorhead Madness, Mike’s car wasn’t quite done. So, once it was ready, we set the date to create the light painting. I set it up along with two other projects, so I could make the most of the road trip. Mother Nature even cooperated, although we decided it would be nice to light paint it in Mike’s shop, so it kinda didn’t matter. But it was still nice that it wasn’t raining, and no dew point, too! Instead, we had “just a few” mosquitoes drop by to visit, right, Mike?

As always, we’ve got a “Build Video” of Mike’s cool light painting on our YouTube channel. It begins with the images that were used to make his artwork. Of the 218 images that Mike and I took that night, 106 of them were used to create the final image. The link to view the 69 Dodge Charger Daytona Tribute Car’s Build Video is below:

In the coming weeks, this project will be added to our dedicated Light Painting Photography Website. We’ve still got several projects in the hopper before the cold weather gets here. So, it might be a while until I get it added.
We still have the third project that was created on this trip, a beautiful silver 1967 Ford Fairlane Ranchero. We’ve just returned from light painting trips to Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. We’ve still got a trip to North Carolina and another to Massachusetts coming up, too! Please stay tuned!
In the meantime, there are lots of other cool light painting projects to check out on our dedicated Light Painting Website. Here’s the link: www.MichaelAndersonLightPainting.com
