JX Event Venue Wedding
Joannie and I are very excited to share some of our favorite images and stories from Dillon and April’s JX Event Venue wedding! These newlyweds were married on Friday, May 28th at this super cool event venue in Stillwater, MN. This was a pretty amazing wedding, so we’re going to break it up into two equally amazing parts.

This was our first wedding at JX Venue, but hopefully, it won’t be the last. Besides being in the heart of one of my favorite towns in all of Minnesota, the venue itself is pretty amazing too! Lots of natural light, with a cool urban charm. It really was a joy to spend a day there with Dillon, April, and their families and friends.
Getting Ready and the First Looks
Upon our arrival, Joannie and I didn’t have to look too hard for places to photograph these guys. Had it been a rainy day, it would have been just fine to be “stuck” indoors. But April and Dillon’s wedding day was nothing but pure sunshine (literally), so we could pretty much do anything. And we kinda did!
The rooms where the guys and gals got ready were really nice. Lots of room with good natural lighting too. Once April was all set, she would see her dad for his first look. Mom joined in right at the end as well.

Nothin’ But Sunshine!
As mentioned above, this was a beautiful, sunny day. Hardly a cloud anywhere. While that’s not a bad thing, it is a very challenging thing for photographing people. So, we set out to keep everyone out of the sun as best we could on Memorial Day Weekend in a very busy town. We didn’t have to go very far. In fact, we photographed their families and wedding party at three different spots, all within about 200 feet from the front doors of the JX!
Memphis also gets a “first look” too!
April and Dillon even had their dog, Memphis, along for a quick cameo right after their first look. Memphis wasn’t exactly thrilled that he couldn’t get real close to April, but he did just fine!

Time To Get Married!
After our outdoor wedding photography session, we headed back inside for another fun wedding party photo. This wedding photo op was at the beautiful bar at JX Event Venue. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Then, it was time to get these two married! Their ceremony was presided over by Mike Petrich, a friend of Dillon’s parents. Mike did a great job (not his first time), and before you knew it, Dillon and April were married!

We’ve put together a cute music video with some of our favorite images from Dillon and April’s JX Event Venue wedding day. As mentioned, this is just Part One! Part Two will take us on a trolley ride around Stillwater, and then back for a fabulous wedding reception, dinner, and dance at JX.
It’s a done deal!
