Saint Joseph of the Lakes Wedding

Saint Joseph of the Lakes Wedding

On the eve of their one-week wedding anniversary, Joannie and I are thrilled to share some of Dan and Jenny’s Saint Joseph of the Lakes wedding photographs with you!

All weddings are pretty special to us, but this one is extra cool in that we were the photographers for Jenny’s parents, Jason & Sharon, on April 28th, 1990! Yep, 31 years ago! Not only that, but I can go back even further! I was a Royal Gaurd in the 1981 St. Paul Winter Carnival with Jenny’s grandfather Merlin, who was the Prince of the East Wind that year! There’s a lot of fun family history here with many family photographs over the years, including several times on Lake Superior!

Gotta Get Ready

We started the day at Jenny’s parent’s house where the girls were getting ready for the day. We took quite a few candid photos, Jenny’s pretty dress hanging from a tree in the backyard, and we even managed a small light painting too!

Then Joannie and I set off to get everything ready at St. Joseph of the Lakes Catholic Church where they were to be married. Once Jenny and Dan were all set, we had Dan see Jenny at the altar where they read their wedding vows to each other while back-to-back and not seeing each other yet. Then, once the vows had been read, they turned around to see each other for the first time in their wedding attire. Pretty fun! A short time later, Jason, Jenny’s dad had his first look too!

Grandpa Ron

Jenny lost her grandpa Ron several years ago and his gravesite is right there in the church cemetery. Jenny, Dan, along with her parents and brother, Scott, and sister, Katie, paid a visit to grandpa Ron. A corsage was placed on his tombstone in honor of his memory. What a touching way to remember him on their wedding day.

1929 Ford Model A

Joannie and I hen began with a series of great wedding photos of Dan and Jenny, and about the time we were finished, a nice “prop” arrived. Not just any prop either. It’s a 1929 Ford Model A! We took full advantage of that wonderful automobile with lots of wedding party images and quite a few with our future newlyweds! What a sweet ride!

After all that, we headed over to the old church for some nice wedding photos on the front steps.

Time To Get Married

It was now time for family photographs, and we took a lot of them too, including a couple of nice photos of Dan and Jenny with their grandparents.

After we completed the family photos, it was time to get ready for the ceremony. It was a very nice service presided over by Father Mike Anderson (you gotta love that name, don’t you?). Upon its conclusion, Dan and Jenny were now husband and wife! Very nice!

There’s A Movie (and More To Come)!

This is just “Part One” of Dan and Jenny’s wonderful wedding day celebration. “Part Two” will take us to 7 Vines Vineyard in Dellwood, Minnesota for a beautiful wedding reception, dinner, and dance! Watch for that in the days ahead. In the meantime, we’ve got a fun little music video with highlights leading up to and including their wedding ceremony. Thanks for reading our post and have a great weekend! – M&J
