Five Corvettes

Light Painting Five Corvettes

I’ve recently returned from a quick, but amazing, trip to Texas where I had the opportunity to create a stunning light painting of five Corvettes at a beautiful lodge! The starting, or set-up image, is shown below.

Here’s the setup photo of all five Corvettes at the lodge. The light painting was about to begin!

This was a very challenging light painting project. Five fantastic Corvettes and a rather large building, all in one image! We took almost 500 images that night and I used nearly 240 of them, and over 300 layers in Photoshop, to create the final image!

This cool project’s light painting photography portion was well over five hours that evening. And the post-production, once I returned home, was easily over 20 more hours! However, the final one-of-a-kind image was well worth that time investment. As you can see below, it’s stunning!

A beautiful light painting of five Corvettes at a lodge. In this one-of-a-kind-photograph features a 1966 Corvette Stingray Convertible, a 2004 Corvette C6 Z06 Leman’s Commemorative Edition, a 2013 Corvette 60th Anniversary ZR1, a 2019 Corvette ZR1, and a 2023 Corvette Z06 Convertible!

Here’s the amazing final artwork! Five beautiful Corvettes (and one big beautiful lodge)!

Since it’s difficult to see all of the details in a small image on the internet, I’m going to “zoom in” on each Corvette so you can see both the before and after images of each vehicle. That way, you’ll be able to see all of the amazing details that light painting photography excels at showing.

We’ll go from the oldest Corvette to the youngest one.

Light Painting a C2 1966 Corvette Stingray Convertible

The classic C2 1966 Corvette Stingray Convertible was placed at the far right side of the image.

This classic C2 Corvette was one of 27,720 Corvettes that were built in 1966. Of those, 17,762 of them were convertibles. A total of 2120 of those were painted in Ermine White.

I’ve light painted quite a few Corvettes up to now, however, this was my first 66. I love the lines and the classic body style of this pretty convertible!

2004 Corvette C6 Z06 Leman’s Commemorative Edition

Since it is the only Corvette that isn’t white, we placed the 2004 Corvette C6 Z06 Leman’s Commemorative Edition in the center.

This special “24 Hours of Le Mans” Commemorative Edition was offered for the C5 Corvette in 2004. and included Le Mans Blue Metallic paint with red and silver stripes, special badging, and unique wheels. A total of 2,025 of them were built.

Just like the 66, this beauty was my very first light painting of a 2004 C5 Corvette. I hope it won’t be the last!

2013 Corvette 60th Anniversary ZR1

The 2013 Corvette 60th Anniversary ZR1 is ready and waiting to be light painted.

The third of the five Corvettes in this project is one of only 13,466 Corvettes that Chevrolet built in 2013. Only about 1000 of those had this Arctic White 60th Anniversary Package, and of those, just 138 were built as ZR1s. It was a cool tribute that honored six decades of this legendary sports car. The Arctic White exterior is set off by a Blue Diamond leather-wrapped interior, with elegant suede accents.

This was my second light painting of this Corvette model year. Last year, I had the cool opportunity to light paint a Supersonic Blue Metallic 2013 60th Anniversary Corvette Grand Sport 3LT along with 3 jet aircraft!

You can see and read all about that amazing project by clicking on this link.

2019 Corvette ZR1

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 is ready for its light painting.

Here’s the fourth of the five Corvettes, and the very first 2019 model that I’ve light painted to date.

I think it’s fair to say that this 2019 is a bit on the quick side. The 2019 Corvette ZR1 hits 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and 100 mph in a stellar 7.6 seconds. That 100-mph time is faster than the Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Turbo, and Ferrari F430. Zoom-Zoom!

For engine performance, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s base engine makes 755 horsepower and is rated to deliver an average of 15 miles per gallon, with a highway range of 352 miles.

Only 2,441 C7 Corvette ZR1s were produced for the 2019 model year, making it a relatively rare and collectible vehicle. This speedster has a top speed of 212 mph, making it the fastest production Corvette ever made!

This won’t be the last time that you see a cool light painting of this fine automobile. The night after we created this amazing project of all five Corvettes, we went inside the Lodge and created something that I think might be epic! Stay tuned for that one. It might be a couple of weeks, as I haven’t even started on it yet.

2023 Corvette Z06 Convertible

Here’s how we positioned the 2023 Corvette Z06 Convertible for the light painting.

Here’s the last of the five Corvettes in this cool light painting. In total, 6,413 units of the 2023 Corvette Z06 were built, including 3,109 Z06 Coupes and 3,304 Z06 Convertibles. A total of 53,785 C8 Corvettes were produced for the 2023 model year, which means Z06 variants accounted for less than 12 percent of the total Corvette production in 2023.

This is now the 3rd 2023 C8 Corvette that I’ve light painted. And each of them has turned out amazing!

This link will take you to Lee’s Torch Red 2023 C8 Corvette Stingray with the Z51 Package which I created at the Seven Springs Winery last year in Lynn Creek, Missouri.

Just a few weeks ago, while at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, I created seven unique light paintings of Mike and Sandy’s 2023 70th Anniversary Z06.

The first three, one of which includes a flying saucer (I kid you not), can be seen here.

The second is a pretty side profile of the Corvette, as well as the interior and both the front and rear end views of the amazing car can be seen here.

Light Painting Five Corvettes – The Movie

As always, I’ve created a “Build Video” that includes the images that I used to create this amazing one-of-a-kind light painting. Normally, these are about one minute long. However, I used well over 200 images to create this one (usually, it’s less than 100 images for most light painting projects). So this short movie is a bit longer than usual, but it’s worth every extra second!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read our story, we appreciate it! – M&J
