Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport Light Painted Wedding Photo

Here is the story of how we created Martha and Sagar’s pretty Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport light painted wedding photo. As is the case at almost all of our weddings, selecting the location for creating a light painted wedding photograph is rarely easy.

Since Joannie and I are the only wedding photographers in the world that create these light painted photographs at weddings, it’s something that we take pretty seriously. We want to create one at each one of our weddings if at all possible.

More Than A Parking Lot

Since we never know what we’re going to run into timing, weather, and location wise at a wedding, it’s really amazing that we’ve been able to create any of them at all. For Martha and Sagar’s Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport light painted wedding photograph, we didn’t even know that this cute little courtyard even existed!

Allie Zimmer, the Catering Sales Manager at the Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport, casually mentioned it as she was talking to me about the wedding timeline earlier that morning. Thinking that the only thing outside of the hotel was the parking lot, I think I said something like “wait, there’s an outdoor spot for photos here?” She then took me there and I knew that would be the spot for Martha and Sagar’s light painted wedding photo. We would also use that same courtyard for some nice photos of Martha and Sagar just after the sun had set.

Just One More Photo Please?

Our “official” wedding photography coverage had concluded. But I really wanted to make this Embassy Suites Minneapolis Airport light painted wedding picture. Not just for Martha and Sagar, but for us too!

So while our couple was having fun socializing with their wedding guests, we went out to the courtyard and got everything all set up. As always, I wanted them to miss a minimum of time away from their reception.

Once we were all set, I went inside to get the newlyweds. I found their pretty champagne glasses on the head table and proceeded to find our newlyweds. These two were the most popular couple in the universe at that moment! Getting them away from their guests was a real trick, but I did eventually sneak them away.

As you can see from the final beautiful image, I think that was time well spent away from their party!

We’ve got a very short video on our YouTube Channel that shows some of the steps that went into creating this one-of-a-kind light painted wedding photograph. It’s only about a minute long, so please check it out! We’ve got most of our light painting videos there too, as well as many other photography videos.
