The awesome Stillwater wedding photography of Kenton & Samantha at the beautiful Church of St. Michael in Stillwater, MN.
Where do I begin to tell you about this fun and really awesome wedding story? As Minneapolis wedding photographers for nearly 29 years, we’ve been very blessed once again this year. We’ve had one great wedding story after another! Nice!
Let me start back when Samantha was searching for her wedding photographers.
Let’s say that she was “somewhat picky” about who it was she was going to choose. That’s not very unusual you say? Well, it is if you’ve been the daughter of a professional photographer your whole life!
Samantha’s father, Brad has been a professional photographer one year longer than we have, starting his studio “Countryside Photo, Inc.” in 1985. He, also like me, “freelanced” for a few years before that dating back to 1980, again one year before yours truly started my “freelancing” prior to my turning pro as a full-time professional wedding & portrait photographer.
What An Honor
So to say it was an honor to be chosen as Samantha & Kenton’s wedding photographers is somewhat of an understatement!
Joannie and I arrived at Samantha’s parents home in the morning and got to work right away creating several fun wedding detail shots including the one above complete with Kenton’s Minnesota Vikings cufflinks! Kenton somewhat likes the Vikings (and football) as you’ll discover in several parts of their fun wedding highlight video too.
Once Samantha was ready to rock and roll, she had her “first look” with her mom & Dad and that was followed moments later with Kenton’s “first look” right there in her parent’s backyard.
Wedding Photography With Horses
This was not just any backyard, but one with horses! Our story’s leading image above has our “King & Queen” posing with “Black Diamond.” Blck Diamond’s mom, “Duchie” made a cameo in a couple of the other wedding photos you’ll also see in the wedding highlight video.
Kenton & Samantha’s Stillwater wedding photo story continues, but before we go any further I must also tell you one other important thing.
The Twirling Bride
Samantha has garnered a new nickname from me out of their whole fun wedding day deal. I’m kind of a nickname guy. I now will refer to her from time to time as “The Twirling Bride!” She just loved (as you’ll see many times) twirling in that adorable wedding dress! It really was a great dress to twirl in!
So we left the Brad & Denise’s house with “The Twirling Bride” and her wedding entourage and headed toward downtown Stillwater and the beautiful Church of St. Michael. It was there that we photographed the families and wedding party before their pretty wedding ceremony.
Just Can’t Put The Camera Down
Also just before the wedding ceremony, Samantha’s father took a few minutes to take some wedding photos of his pretty daughter and his (almost) son-in-law Kenton!
We professional photographer dads can’t just leave our camera’s sitting around on the most important day of our daughter’s lives, can we? I didn’t when our daughter Jen married her husband Ben and I’m certainly not going to leave it at the studio when our daughter Michelle & her fiancé Ben get married later this year either!
Like Brad, I’m not going (nor do I want to) be “the guy” and to do it all day long, but I’m going to “pitch in” here and there. We just gotta do it, right Brad?
Infrared Wedding Photos
It was also an opportunity to try out our brand new Canon 5D Super Color Infrared Camera! It wasn’t a perfect infrared wedding photography day because it was pretty cloudy, but I think we got some really fun and interesting images as you can check out right here and as you’ll see a bit further down in this blog post too!
After these two became newlyweds in a very beautiful wedding ceremony, we took a few wedding photos with the grandparents and Godparents right in the pretty garden walkway outside at the Church of St. Michael.
Kenton & Samantha’s fun wedding story continues with a really fun photo stop both on and by the famous Stillwater Lift Bridge. We also stopped by the great photo areas just a block away in the alley behind The Freight House. And a stop on the fire escape behind Brines Restaurant & Bar.
Stillwater wedding photos (also engagement portraits, senior portraits, kids & family portraits too) can be so cool!
Stillwater Wedding Photography At Its Best!
More great Stillwater wedding photography using the St. Croix River and the famous Stillwater Lift Bridge as the backdrop. This time using our Canon EF 15mm f 2.8 Fisheye lens!
There she goes again! Samantha, “The Twirling Bride” strikes again!
Oak Marsh Golf Course Wedding Reception
Upon our arrival at their wedding reception site at Oak Marsh Golf Course, we got all set up and set out for more great wedding photography with this fun-loving wedding party. The white wooden bridge at Oak Marsh Golf Course is a great wedding “prop” for sure!
Between a little “wedding party football” and many candid wedding party photos, we snuck in a little color and B&W infrared wedding photography near the Oak Marsh driving range.
One infrared wedding photo with so many possibilities! I like it in “Minnesota Viking Purple” and in B&W too!
Their wedding highlight music video concludes with images from Kenton & Samantha’s wonderful wedding reception followed by a great dinner and dancing into the night!
Well, that was a full and fun wedding day! We close with one more color infrared wedding photograph of Samantha & Kenton, all alone by a pretty pond at Oak Marsh Golf Course.
A Big Thank You!
