Spirit of Hope United Methodist Wedding
Joannie & I would love to share some of Sam and Taylor’s Spirit of Hope United Methodist wedding photos with you! These two were married last Saturday, January 19th, the coldest day of the year up to that point. And we’re talking cold! The actual temperature started near zero and then dipped below zero with wind chills of -20 degrees.
Yes, we did go outside in that bitter cold. But it wasn’t until later in the day at their pretty Rush Creek wedding reception, and it certainly wasn’t for very long either! I’d say that was the coldest temperature that we’ve ever taken a wedding party outside in (it was their idea).
Big Wedding Party – Small Altar
This was our first time photographing a Spirit of Hope United Methodist wedding. It’s a cute church, but the altar area is on the small side, and it’s triangular in shape. With Sam and Taylor’s “tiny” wedding party of 18 and some larger family groups, we needed to find somewhere that could hold that many people. With the freezing temperatures, outside was definitely not an option.
So we created all of their pre-wedding Spirit of Hope wedding pictures in the narthex area at the church. It has large skylights and a split staircase leading up to the sanctuary. We set up shop there right after Sam and Taylor’s first look.
The Wedding Ceremony
After the formal photos, it was time for one of the more emotional wedding ceremonies we’ve attended in a long, long time. I mean that in a really good way! Sam and Taylor delivered their beautiful wedding vows (that they wrote) to a sanctuary filled with guests that were both laughing and crying throughout the whole ceremony. It was really cool!
