Our 17th annual North Shore Portrait Weekend was held on August 18 & 19 this year.
Pete and Lauren spent part of that beautiful, breezy Sunday in parts of Duluth and at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park with Joannie and Michael creating their engagement portraits on Lake Superior. Pete and Lauren will be getting married on October 19th later this year in Woodbury, MN.
We met up with Pete and Lauren just outside of Grandma’s in Canal Park in Duluth, MN. From there we spent part of the early Sunday afternoon in several areas right around the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. While we were there, a 1000 foot freighter arrived in the Duluth harbor which gave us an opportunity to get photographs of the two of them with the bridge just coming down!
We took turns taking their engagement portraits while switching off with one of our high school seniors, Jade, who was also up on the North Shore for her senior portraits. While one was changing their clothes, the other took their turn. It worked out pretty well and allowed us to do a lot less traveling that day. Jade’s session highlights will be on another blog post.
After we left the Canal Park area, we took our small convoy up the North Shore with stops at Lester Park in Duluth and at our final portrait destination at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.
Joannie and I love the North Shore and especially the Split Rock Lighthouse area. It’s just so pretty and peaceful up there. In particular, we love our annual stay at Cove Point Lodge. Just a wonderful place to sit back and relax on the shores of Lake Superior.
We photographed Ben and Amanda’s Gooseberry Falls Destination Wedding up here just a couple of years ago. Nice!
Here’s the highlights from Pete and Lauren’s engagement portraits on Lake Superior. Enjoy!
