Withrow Ballroom Wedding of Jake and Sara
Here are the highlights of Jake and Sara’s beautiful Withrow Ballroom wedding held on Saturday, June 28, 2014!
We begin Jake and Sara’s Withrow Ballroom Wedding day with their wedding rings and wedding invitation along with Sara’s beautiful bridal bouquet. I then added some of Sara’s cute wedding accessories and then with the final touches of her getting ready for her wonderful wedding day.
The First Look
That’s followed by Jake’s “first look” at his stunning bride, outdoors in front of the very gazebo that they would be getting married at in just a few hours. A very pretty spot for sure!
Jake and Sara’s bridal portrait session went very well on this warm, humid Saturday. The sun even started popping in and out of the clouds. But as we all know, most of Saturday’s weather left a lot to be desired.
At the Withrow Ballroom on Saturday, we were literally “living on the edge” of one thunderstorm after another while I was photographing families and the wedding party outside at this pretty venue. We all managed to stay dry, but rain was very, very close by on several occasions before the ceremony. There was a small period of time where there were thoughts of moving everything inside the ballroom, to the point of moving the DJ’s sound system right by the door, just in case.
Withrow Ballroom Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
But at wedding time, it was pretty decent outside, so their Withrow Ballroom wedding ceremony was a go! What a pretty spot for a wedding! Cute gazebo, big trees, cute couple and lots of family and friends there to witness these two getting married! Nice!
Of course, during the ceremony, it started to rain ever so lightly, just enough to get a few umbrellas to open up and to keep us wondering if we were going to have to run for cover before it concluded. But as luck would have it, it was just Mother Nature teasing us a bit. But about fifteen minutes after the ceremony concluded, the heavens opened up and it poured! Lucky for us a Withrow Ballroom wedding reception, dinner, and dance is indoors!
Everyone made it inside dry, except for the two kids taking down all of the chairs, they might as well been swimming as they would have been drier!
Wedding Reception Photobomb
Now it was time for dinner, fun, and dancing! After a nice dinner, there were several fun speeches and toasts by the “Best Woman” and “Maid of Honor” as well as from Sara’s dad and then by Jake and Sara too.
Then came a first for me as a wedding photographer; a “photobomb!” I had heard of them before, but never actually did one before. During just one song, Jake, Sara and I went to every table of wedding guests and photographed everyone! All before the song ended. What a fun way to do “table shots” at a wedding reception!
We followed that fun with the start of the wedding dance and Jake and Sara’s first dance and Jake and his mom and Sara and her dad’s first dances too. Very nice! Then the dance floor opened up to everyone and the party really got started!
The Calm After The Storm
By this time, the rain slowed to just a very light shower, so we borrowed a golf umbrella from one of their wedding guests and went outside to get some nice wedding photos of just Jake and Sara as their wedding photographs were cut short by the weather earlier in the day.
There’s a really nice spot, right by the parking lot, with lots of trees in the background. The trick was not to walk in the numerous puddles of water! The rain actually stopped while we were out there, so we put the umbrella away and worked “without a net”.
We decided to walk down the road to the nearby railroad tracks to get some cool wedding images on the tracks. On the way there the sun was trying to appear so we took a few photos with some of the trees silhouetted in the background that turned out very nice.
What A Sunset!
Off to the train tracks we went, a couple hundred yards or so away. I love those wedding images a lot! Sara and Jake really got into it. While we were there, tucked back in the tree line, the light kept getting warmer and better from behind us and when we got back out in the open, the sunset, which was nice before was becoming spectacular!
So I ran (literally) back to the Withrow Ballroom, to get some of my lighting gear. I had to capture this and fast! I found out that I’m not in as good of shape as I thought, but I got back to Sara and Jake in plenty of time to capture a magnificent sunset with the two of them!
We spend about ten minutes or so right there on the county road while the sunset just kept getting better and better. These are really incredible wedding photographs for sure!
We walked back to the Withrow Ballroom so they could get back to dancing and celebrating with their family and friends. But there was one more stop to be made.
Nighttime Wedding Photos
The Withrow Ballroom has this cute little area right back at the gazebo where the trees are all lit up. Very pretty. So we finished their little evening wedding photo session in the tree lights, with the last remaining sunset still showing through the trees. You couldn’t ask for a better way to end a day, let alone a wedding!
Thank you, Sara and Jake, for an interesting wedding day (weather-wise). I really had a great time with you, your families and friends. Have a wonderful honeymoon and we’ll see you when you get home!
