Wedding Photography at The Japanese Garden
Joannie and I had the opportunity to create some really beautiful wedding photography at The Japanese Garden at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN.
This was our second time in the past year or so we’ve created wedding photography at The Japanese Garden. In June of 2016, we were there for part of Tony and Tessa’s wedding day. And just like Tony and Tessa, Kevin and Stephanie’s wedding ceremony was held at the nearby Hilton Minneapolis Bloomington.
Getting Ready at the Hilton Minneapolis Bloomington
Joannie and I arrived at the Hilton Minneapolis Bloomington and we headed up to the bridal suite to capture images of the ladies getting ready. It was pretty crazy up there as the ring bearers, flower girls, as well as a tiny baby were all up in the suite too. It was very entertaining to see everything that was simultaneously going on in both rooms!
Joannie and I gathered Stephanie’s pretty wedding gown and all of the bridesmaids dresses, as well as Stephanie’s shoes and jewelry. Then we set out to get some of the wedding detail shots that all brides love to have. All the while, either Joannie or I would sneak in some of the candid moments going on all around us.
Once Stephanie and the girls were almost ready, Joannie and I left the hotel to head over to The Japanese Garden. Kevin and the boys were waiting for us there. Kevin would have his first look with Stephanie there once she arrived with the ladies.
Weather wise, Saturday, September 30th was a beautiful day. Very comfortable temperatures and a breeze to keep everyone comfortable. Because it was very sunny when we arrived, we employed Lightning McQueen to help us in the lighting department. Eventually, some clouds arrived to soften the light for us. Once that did happened, it allowed us to use both bridges for wedding photography at The Japanese Garden.
Hilton Minneapolis Bloomington Wedding Ceremony
Their wedding ceremony time was approaching, so everyone headed back to the hotel. Joannie and I got all set up and took some images of the room setting before they opened the doors for all of the wedding guests. Their ceremony was really very sweet, officiated wonderfully by Ashley Linnihan. The kiss at the ceremonies’ conclusion sealing the deal for the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Black. Very nice!
A fun social hour, an equally fun wedding reception, and a delicious dinner, all followed the wedding ceremony. A night of celebration, including a wedding dance with a full dance floor rounded it all out. All in all, it was a perfect wedding day for Kevin and Stephanie!
To Kevin and Stephanie; Joannie and I really loved photographing your beautiful wedding day with you, and we are grateful that you asked us to capture it all for you. You’re such a sweet couple, you made us feel like family all day long, thank you! – M&J
