Wedding at The Mill Site

Wedding at The Mill Site

Joannie and I had the honor of photographing John and Lisa’s wedding at The Mill Site in Anoka, Minnesota a couple of weeks ago. These two managed to dodge the rain that had been in the forecast in the days prior. The weather that Saturday turned out to be wonderful, and their outdoor wedding ceremony proceeded as planned!

When we arrived, their families and wedding party were all there getting their final touches completed prior to the ceremony. Joannie spent some time in the bride’s room with Lisa, and I captured some of their pretty decorations inside and out at The Mill Site, as well as some images of John and his best man outside.

A short time later, John and Lisa’s wedding guests had arrived and it was time for these two to tie the knot! John and his mom had a sweet moment together, sharing a little prayer just before he escorted her down the aisle. The best man and maid of honor followed as Lisa and her brother, Kevin, snuck around to enter from the other direction. At this point, John had not seen Lisa or her wedding gown. Well, that was about to change!

Up at the altar, John kept his back towards Lisa as she approached, then as she got pretty close, he turned to see his beautiful bride-to-be! Pretty cool! Then, longtime friend, Michelle Vogt, married them in a sweet and wonderfully personal ceremony that featured several fun stories about how they met and much more. Then, before you knew it, John and Lisa were married!

Just When You Think You’ve Seen It All

John and Lisa sealed the deal with a kiss and then proceeded up the aisle to a receiving line to greet all of their wedding guests. After that concluded, Joannie and I photographed their families and wedding party right there on the east bank of the Rum River in downtown Anoka, MN.

So far, nothing out of the ordinary you say? Well, at the conclusion of the formal wedding photos, something happened that we’d never witnessed at a wedding before. Lisa’s daughter, Emily, got engaged! Yep, Alex Pietsch proposed to her right there in front of all of us to see! Of course, Joannie and I were privy to this very special event, and we were ready to capture the moment for them.

Time for cake!

After all that excitement, it was time to celebrate with a wonderful dinner, catered by Fork & Flair Catering and Events. Following dinner, John and Lisa played “The Shoe Game” and their wedding dance started shortly afterward. Once the dance was in full swing, Joannie and I took our newlyweds outside for some pretty wedding photographs just before sunset along the Rum River in Anoka.

What a great way to cap off a fabulous wedding day! But, Joannie and I were not done quite yet!

Still More To Come!

If you follow us at all, you know what we had up our sleeves as the finale to their wedding images. Yes, we created another one-of-a-kind light painted wedding photograph for John and Lisa! I’m about to start putting that image together and I’ll share it once it’s completed.

In the meantime, thank you John and Lisa for asking us to be your wedding photographers. We truly enjoyed your wonderful wedding day and we look forward to sharing all of your photos real soon! In fact, here’s a fun video with a whole bunch of your wedding photos! Enjoy! – M&J
