Beautiful wedding photography on the St. Croix River in Minnesota.
I had the honor and extreme pleasure of being the wedding photographer for Jeff and Reneé at their September 6th St. Croix River wedding. The ceremony was held at Jeff’s parents home on “Johnson Beach”.
Two words pretty much sum up this wedding day: just beautiful.
This was one of the nicest wedding days of the entire 2014 wedding season so far. Not one drop of rain at any time! Has to be a world record of some sort. Absolutely wedding picture perfect!
Jeff and Reneé’s St. Croix River wedding highlights begin inside Jeff’s parents home where the girls got ready for the wedding day. We’ve got many fun images of them helping Reneé, “The Queen” get ready for her first look with Jeff, “The King.”
That first look happened right there in the living room as Reneé came down the stairs and tapped Jeff on the shoulder. Very fun!
Wedding Portraits
Their wedding day continued with lots of fun and formal wedding portraits of the two families and the wedding party right on the front lawn at the Johnson home. Jaida, their flower girl, was particularly fun and cute!
Just prior to the wedding ceremony we took a few minutes to get some beautiful bridal portraits on “Johnson Beach” before the wedding guests arrived. I could work here every weekend.
A “High Water” Wedding Ceremony
A St. Croix River wedding couldn’t be one without a wedding ceremony, and that is next.
The St. Croix River water levels were a bit high with the heavy rains earlier in the week. In fact, the family tells me that by the following day, much of the beach would probably be under water!
I actually had to take off my shoes and socks and roll my pants up to get the wedding ceremony photograph below; just to make it to their dock! At one point during the wedding ceremony, the minister actually had to move forward a bit because the wake of a passing boat moved the water past his shoes on the beach!
I just never know what might happen at a wedding!
So, Jeff and Reneé are now married! Very cool!
At the ceremony’s conclusion, everyone was given champaign to toast the newlyweds right there on the beach! Nice.
St. Croix Yacht Club Wedding Reception
From there we all set off for the wedding reception, dinner and dance at Sunnyside Marina at the St. Croix Yacht Club in Stillwater, MN.
What a pretty setting for a celebration and celebrate we did! We all enjoyed a wonderful dinner catered by Three Sons Signature Cuisine, and that was followed by some wedding fun involving sparklers and a yacht!
Everyone received two sparklers, one for the parking lot and the other for the yacht send off!
All the wedding guests gathered on the dock with their second sparkler to send the newlyweds on their way! Yes, I’m writing this blog post while on their honeymoon aboard their private yacht in the Bahamas!
I wish!
No, it was actually a photo op, but if they wanted to I would have “sacrificed” and done that for them.
My closing wedding image features Jeff and Reneé under the full moon on the docks at Sunnyside Marina. What an awesome way to end the wedding day!
Jeff and Reneé, thank you for asking me to be your wedding photographer, for being so nice and fun to be with on your beautiful St. Croix River wedding day, and also for a great wedding experience for me to photograph. I totally enjoyed your wedding day with you two!
