The 2014 Medtronic Bakken Society Induction Ceremony
On August 14th, Joannie and I had the wonderful honor of photographing the 2014 Medtronic Bakken Society Awards Banquet. The event was held at The Bakken Museum near Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, MN.
This is one of our favorite events of the whole year! Black tie and very elegant, beautiful location, super nice and friendly people. Always an incredible dinner from D’Amico Catering and the list of great stuff goes on and on! Joannie and I been blessed to have been at this wonderful event as it’s official photographers for something like 15 years!
In addition to the event photography, Michael has even been videotaping it (scary huh?) for the past few years. Videotaping special events; who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
Portraits At The Beautiful Bakken Museum
Every year, The Bakken Museum’s own Christopher Lundeen and a crew of minions turn a classroom at The Bakken Museum into a stunning banquet room. The theme, colors, menu and decor change every year too. It’s always beautiful!
The 2014 Chairman of this year’s special event was Paul Gerrish, a 2005 Bakken Fellow. The MC for the evening was Paul Citron, a 1980 Bakken Fellow. Also on hand was Omar Ishrak, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Medtronic, Inc.
Medtronic Founder and Director Emeritus Earl Bakken made an appearance all the way from Hawaii, via FaceTime. It marks the second year in a row that Earl has been on the big screen at the banquet. It’s always nice to see and hear Earl speak to everyone in attendance. Aloha Earl!
“The Bakken Society is an honorary society dedicated to recognizing employees who have distinguished themselves in furthering the technical and scientific progress of Medtronic, Inc. and it’s subsidiaries”.
The 2014 new inductees into the Bakken Society are; Douglas Hine, Joachim Hossick-Schott, Ph.D., Linnea Lentz, DVM, Ph. D., Robert J. Melder, Sc.D., Todd Sheldon and Nathalie Virag, Ph. D.
The list of accomplishments, inventions, patents, and stories of these six truly gifted individuals is simply astonishing! These are people (and many, many others at Medtronic) who make a tremendous difference in people’s lives all over the world.
So here are the highlights of the beautiful 2014 Medtronic Bakken Society Awards Banquet. We can’t wait until next years wonderful event.
