Wildlife photography in the Everglades. This female American Crocodile was regulating its body temperature by “gaping”, (holding it mouth open). While it looks like threatening behavior, it’s actually a normal thing for them to do to keep cool.
Nice teeth! While it looks like I’m pretty close (Joannie thought I was), I’m about 40 feet from this American Crocodile. I’m using an 800mm lens for this photograph, which allowed the nice view without being too close for safety.
