If you love beautiful photographs, you’re going to love Luke & Ashley’s fall engagement portraits!
I wish fall lasted a whole lot longer than it does because I really love creating fall engagement photos or any type of outdoor photography for that matter. There’s nothing more satisfying to me as a wedding and portrait photographer than putting my clients in a beautiful setting and capturing it for them to enjoy forever!
Last week (in between 4 weddings), Luke, Ashley, Natalie (Ashley’s mom) and their Golden Retriever Sadie spent the afternoon creating their fall engagement portraits at two really wonderful locations. The first stop was at the pretty Winehaven Winery and Vineyard in Chisago, MN.
Engagement Photos With A Dog
While it was a very sunny day, we were able to capture the essence of this great venue just one day after the fall grape harvest had ended. There’s one pretty image after another with Sadie making a cameo here and there. The whole time Natalie tried to keep her at and her excitement in check while we were in the vineyard. Pretty tough to do when the dog weighs more than you do, right Natalie?
It was the perfect time to break out our “Big Boy Lens.” The Tamron SP 150-600MM F/5-6.3 Di VC USD with all of its wonderful background compression and bokeh qualities! I love that lens and I used it a lot during Luke & Ashley’s session at both wonderful locations.
I even captured a few color and B&W infrared engagement images created with our Canon 5D Super Color Infrared Camera in there for the fun of it!
Well, we were at the winery, so why not enjoy some wine while we’re at it? It makes for another great engagement photo opportunity, so we did. Very delicious too!
We left Winehaven to seek out another location for fall engagement portraits, preferably with some shade to block out some of the sun’s power on this beautiful October afternoon. So we got into our cars and headed out.
Engagement Photos at Panola Valley Gardens
It occurred to me that we were not too far from a venue that would be just the ticket, so I made a phone call to my new friends at Panola Valley Gardens. I had the pleasure of discovering Panola Valley Gardens back in June when I photographed the beautiful wedding of Dennis & JoAnn at this diamond in the rough. They told me that we could drop by and I’m so glad we did!
These fall engagement portraits speak for themselves. This is a very pretty place! I especially love the image below of the three of them by the split rail fence with the sun filtering through all the colorful leaves in the background.
And then there’s the image at Mary’s Pond. I could go on and on!
I hope you’ve enjoyed Luke and Ashley’s fall engagement portraits as much as I enjoyed creating them. Look for much more of this cute couple next summer after their destination wedding at Grandview Lodge in Brainerd, MN next July. I can’t wait to see what we come up with at yet another pretty location with this cute couple!
