Joannie and Michael created Jade’s senior portraits in Duluth, MN at our 17th annual “Portraits on Lake Superior” back on August 18th. A 2014 graduating Irondale Senior, Jade spent part of that beautiful, breezy Sunday in parts of the waterfront in Duluth and also up at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.
We met up with Jade, mom and her sister just outside of Grandma’s in Canal Park in Duluth, MN and from there we spent part of the early Sunday afternoon in several areas right around the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. While we were there, a 1000 foot freighter arrived in the Duluth harbor which gave us an opportunity to get photographs of her with the bridge just coming down! The wind was kind of a problem, but we gave it a try none the less.
We took turns taking Jade’s senior portraits while switching off with one of our engaged couples Pete and Lauren who were also up on the North Shore for their engagement portraits. While one was changing their clothes, the other took their turn. It worked out pretty well and allowed us to do a lot less traveling that day.
After we left the Canal Park area, we took our small convoy up the North Shore with stops at Lester Park in Duluth and at our final portrait destination at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.
Joannie and I love the North Shore and especially the Split Rock Lighthouse area. It’s just so pretty and peaceful up there. In particular, we love our annual stay at Cove Point Lodge. Just a wonderful place to sit back and relax on the shores of Lake Superior.
We photographed Ben and Amanda’s destination wedding at nearby Gooseberry Falls a couple of years ago on a very cold and much windier day. Their wedding photographs still turned out awesome despite the unusually cold late June day!
Here are the highlights from Jade’s senior portraits Duluth, MN and on Lake Superior. Enjoy!
