Chris & Chris’ Orchestra Hall Engagement Portraits
I had the pleasure of spending last Wednesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, MN with Chris & Chris. We were there to create their Orchestra Hall engagement portraits. It was the last spring-like day before the cooler temperatures set in. It was also before the “big winter snow storm” that never materialized last Friday.
Chris & Chris will be getting married right at Orchestra Hall in September. Of course, Joannie and I will be their wedding photographers.
When we discussed possible locations for their engagement photos we thought it would be a great idea to create some of them by Orchestra Hall. So it was kind of like a scouting mission for their wedding photography. Many of their Orchestra Hall engagement photos were actually taken with Orchestra Hall as the backdrop. It’s a really nice looking building and I’m looking forward to creating many of their wedding images there in September.
The Peavey Plaza area right behind Orchestra Hall should be a great photo stop in September as well. But on this day, it was pretty much a giant puddle with all of the melted snow from the February heatwave we just experienced.
The copper sculpture area on the northwest corner of Peavey Plaza was nice and dry, resulting in some very cool looking portraits there.
Loring Greenway Area
We departed Orchestra Hall and Peavey Plaza and took a short stroll down Nicollet Mall to the Loring Greenway area. For those of you who haven’t experienced that part of Minneapolis, you’ll be in for a surprise. Even in the wintertime, it’s a really pretty area with nice landscaping and water features. They even look pretty cool even in the wintertime when they’re shut off.
As a wedding and portrait photographer, the whole area offers many awesome walls, doorways, sculptures, and backgrounds that help give portraits of any kind some real character. You should really check it out sometime.
Chris & Chris, I want to thank you for the great afternoon we spent together. Thank you for the opportunity to be your wedding photographers. Joannie & I look forward to creating lots of great wedding photographs that you’ll love forever! – M&J
