Patrick and Brittany’s engagement pictures in Duluth, MN and on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
As mentioned last week in our blog post about Mady and her “Forest Lake High School Senior Pictures;” our 2014 “North Shore Portrait Weekend” on Lake Superior was an awesome success! We had a great trio of high school seniors, some family portraits with each of their families and an engagement session too!
Yes, our 19th Annual North Shore Portrait Weekend was fun for everyone who made the trip up to Lake Superior this year.
This blog post is about our super cute engaged couple, Patrick and Brittany who will be getting married on October 25th this year!
Patrick and Brittany shared their extended engagement session with Karina, a 2015 senior at Rogers High School, Karina’s mom and dad both made the trip up north as well.
Duel portrait sessions is a little trick we started using last year. We can do two seasons at the same time allowing us to use cool areas in Duluth as a background twice in one day. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be enough time in the day to travel back and forth from Duluth to Split Rock Lighthouse State Park twice. It works very well. While one is changing clothes, we work with the other. It’s also a great way to meet and make new friends too!
As mentioned, Patrick and Brittany are getting married in a few weeks. Their wedding, reception and dance will be held at the at the Semple Mansion in Minneapolis, MN. A very cool location for a wedding; but that’s getting ahead of ourselves.
Patrick and Brittany’s engagement session on our North Shore Portrait Weekend begins in Duluth, MN at the famous Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge. We’ve got some fun engagement pictures of these guys on and around the world famous icon and the streets nearby.
After we finished in the Canal Park area, we started heading towards Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. But before we left Duluth, we made a stop at Lester Park for some pretty images in the woods near the Lester River.
Patrick and Brittany’s engagement pictures on Lake Superior continues with all of us moving on to a brand new North Shore location for us. Karina’s parents, Steve and Ingrid told us about it, it sounded like a great spot, so we followed them there. I can’t remember the name of the place, but it sure is pretty. It’s also not really very well marked, and it’s more of a boat landing than a park when you pull in, but there’s a lot more to see and explore once you get on the trails there.
A pretty and relatively secluded spot right there on the big lake! I know it will be part of our photo itinerary in the years to come!
Once we finished there, we were off to the Split Rock Lighthouse. The Split Rock Lighthouse, we’ve been told, is the most photographed icon in all of Minnesota! I’m pretty sure that Joannie and I have played a small part in that over the years! We’ve been making it the site of our annual North Shore Portrait Weekend since 1996!
We photographed Patrick and Brittany in several locations along the shores of Lake Superior and on several occasions with the Split Rock Lighthouse in their background.
We hope you enjoyed this small sampling of Patrick and Brittany’s engagement portraits and their music highlight video as much as we enjoyed creating it for them. Check back right here on our blog for their wedding highlights in late October and early November!
Thank you Patrick and Brittany for coming up to Lake Superior and for asking Joannie and myself to create your wedding memories for you two. We enjoyed seeing you guys “up north” and look forward to showing you a lot of great images when we get together very soon!
